I was in New York for a few days in late September. As usual I walked for miles, taking pictures of newer buildings, going to the excellent 9/11 Memorial and Museum and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. I also attended the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera, seeing Tristan und Isolde – a great evening!
Here are some images for your enjoyment. Come this way …
While I was in New York last month I decided to do a study of numbers around Manhattan – numbers on buildings, street signs, stores signs, in the subway – anywhere I saw them. This is a short (2 min 30 sec) video of what I found.
I visited Lerwick, Shetland in October 2015. The weather, like all places beside the North Sea, was changeable! I have used black and white for these pictures, to convey the cold bleakness that Lerwick often experiences.
I will be posting more pictures from my trip to beautiful Shetland, once I have processed them.
I was in Ottawa a couple of weeks ago and it was bloody cold! -20C with some wind in the evening. It snowed a little but was mostly rather overcast. Here are three pictures which sum up my visit. Largely boring architecture and long, flat streets with not many people on them – for good reason.
This was early evening in Victoria, BC. The Inner Harbour was very pretty, looking north and the city seemed to be entirely floating in a blue universe. A four second exposure, with no colour manipulation – this is just as it looked.
This is the second image chosen by Photohaus for exhibition in June 2014. I shot this on 13-Feb-2010 which was both Chinese New Year and also the opening day of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. It was a glorious day in Vancouver – not something we can count on at that time of year – and the whole city was abuzz with excitement. We went into town on the Skytrain and wandered around the Olympic venues and down into China Town.
These umbrellas – part of some decor for a private party – caught my eye. It is a happy image for me.
